Cranial Sacral Therapy

Looking for a gentle approach to bodywork? Craniosacral therapy (CST), also called cranial sacral therapy, uses a light, hands-on contact rather than deep massage pressure. Its roots lie in cranial osteopathy, developed by osteopathic physician William Sutherland in the early 1900s. Osteopathic physician John Upledger later developed and popularized craniosacral therapy in the 1970s and 1980s.

During a session, you typically rest fully clothed on a treatment table while your practitioner places their hands lightly on areas such as your head, neck, back, and sacrum—the bone at the base of your spine. Gentle holds and subtle movements take the place of forceful adjustments.

For some people, the quiet setting and gentle touch offer an opportunity to relax and feel more at ease.
